Your article seemed a bit jumbled to me. I read it from start to finish and I am not sure what your main point was. The part about bad coaches being good for players does not really seem to fit in with what you wrote.

Hmmmmmmmm... I might have been all over the place in that one. However, my role in that article was to mainly relay what another fairly experienced sport parent had written, and to then add a few of my own experiences as both a sports dad and granddad, and then as a former high school and college head coach.
In the end, though, my main aim was to suggest that parents needn't just accept a youngster's fate from one evaluation. The author of the article I was citing was probably less kind than I, offering something like, "The reason your kid isn't playing is because he sucks." So again, my way was/is to give my readers more hope than that, and to suggest that their kids can surpass others by outworking them.
