Is it just me, or does the high school league go out of their way to find the worst refs around? Do all the good refs get to do the games for the almighty freeze and we are stuck with the leftovers?

I have found that the quality of officiating in a region is very in line with the quality of hockey in the region. Unfortunately the region we are in is not a big hockey area, and the chance of getting high quality officiating is low. Officiating hockey requires a lot of athletic ability and experience and we just don't produce enough people with these attributes in this area. Its frustrating, but that is just the way it is.

Not to be rude, but that is just not good enough. We pay a lot of money for our children to play and I know these officials are VERY well paid. just last night I watched a player hit one of our female players with no call. He could have seriously hurt her. This league is become a real joke.

If it is not good enough then what is your suggestion to fix it?

Why should I? I was paying over $800 for good officiating, and didn't get it. So, he is playing lacrosse now. That's why the league is losing players in bunches. Down to just 4 schools with teams, when it used to be almost double that. Too bad, HS hockey used to be fun.
