I can't blame young hockey players for wanting sticks that look like those used by their idols. At the same time, parents and coaches have to guide those in their charge to make wise choices that can drastically affect their playing abilities.
In this video, "The Cold Hard Science: Slapshot", the science is explained -- about the shot, and about the important qualities of a hockey stick. In particular, I'd like coaches and parents to note just how important the flex of a stick is. And, I'll suggest that it's just as important in any of the other hockey shots.
